Reporting duty

A reporting duty may be imposed if:

  • You have received a final refusal of asylum and are not cooperating on your departure arrangements.
  • You have been expelled by judgment.
  • You have exceptional leave to remain (tolerated stay)
  • Your residence permit has lapsed under section 21(b)(1) of the Danish Aliens Act.
  • You have been expelled by an administrative decision under section 25 of the Danish Aliens Consolidation  Act.

If you are subject to a duty to report, you must report to the staff of the Danish Return Agency at the return centre within the period of time as stipulated in your reporting-duty decision.

If you cannot be deported, and you hold an exceptional leave to remain, you generally have a daily duty to report i.e. every day of the week.

If you have been expelled by judgment, or your asylum application has been rejected and you do not cooperate, or your residence permit has lapsed or you have been expelled by administrative decision, your duty to report generally falls three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

The Danish Return Agency monitors whether you fulfill your duty to report. If you violate your duty to report, a penalty can be imposed upon you.
