You are required to submit documentation of your departure

The Danish Return Agency is responsible for ensuring that foreign nationals who have been given a deadline for departure leave Denmark within the set timeframe

An automatic control is carried out if no departure has been registered at a border crossing before the deadline expires.

The agency may therefore request that you submit documentation of your departure to ensure that your departure from Denmark is properly registered.

Examples of documentation:

  • Departure stamps in your passport and a copy of the data page
  • Documentation for residence abroad, such as extract from a civil registry with address registration, utility bills or bank statements

How to send the documentation:

The documentation must be sent to kontrol@hjemst.dk or via the contact form.

When your documentation has been received and assessed as sufficient, the case will be closed and you will receive confirmation. The information will then be forwarded to the authority that issued the decision requiring your departure from Denmark.

If no documentation is received, we will conduct further investigations.

Foreign nationals who fail to meet their departure deadline must leave immediately. If departure does not take place voluntarily, the Danish Return Agency may request police assistance to enforce the deportation. A foreign national who does not comply with the departure deadline may be issued a 2-year entry ban applicable throughout the Schengen area, cf. Section 32(1)(2) of the Danish Aliens Act.

If you have questions about your return decision or about residence and work permits, visas, etc., you can find information at newtodenmark.dk
